Access Mini Grants

College Access Challenge Program Mini Grant Opportunity

We are pleased to offer you an opportunity to apply for a mini grant of up to $750 to assist with funding for activities aimed at encouraging underrepresented students to access higher education. Please find the application attached.

Fall Semester Deadline: December 15, 2010
Spring Semester Deadline: May 15, 2011
Note: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and funds will be made available upon approval of requests.

To be eligible to apply for this grant you must develop or enhance an existing partnership between a K-12 or community based organization and a higher education institution. If you do not have an existing partnership, we encourage you to contact us for more information on ways to connect with potential partners.

Eligible applicants:
A middle school, high school or community based organization (CBO) in partnership with a higher education institution or a higher education institution in partnership with a middle school, high school or CBO.


We are particularly interested in funding new programs and initiatives, or the enhancement or expansion of existing programs. Priority will be given to programs that impact underrepresented students and to new initiatives that might otherwise not be possible without our financial support.

You may apply for up to $750. Typical grants range from $250 – $700. Allowable expenses include, but are not limited to:

  • Travel
  • Participation in college and career fairs
  • Keynote speakers
  • Meeting materials
  • Refreshments
  • Field Trips
  • Campus tours
