Since its inception on 2002, more than 1200 students have attended this important access event. The convention’s goal is to encourage New Hampshire underrepresented students to pursue higher education and achieve their dreams.
This Conference offers panel presentations and testimonials from minority students regarding their college experiences, financial aid workshops, networking opportunities, college planning materials, a college fair and a campus tour, while representatives from higher education around the state explain how minority students can benefit from their services.
According to the NCES Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) Enrollment Survey, between 2001 and 2007 minority enrollment in the state increased 39.10%. As of 2007, 3,991 minority undergraduate students were enrolled in NH Postsecondary Education institutions, up from 2,869 in 2001.
The College Access Convention is part of a statewide higher education access grant targeting underrepresented student populations and funded by Jane's Trust.
