
SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT ELECTED TO LEAD NHCUC BOARD
CONCORD, N.H. -- Dr. Paul LeBlanc, president of Southern New Hampshire University, has been elected chair of the New Hampshire College and University Council (NHCUC), a statewide higher education consortium of public and private colleges and universities.
Founded in 1966, the NHCUC is a 17-member consortium that manages programs statewide for student recruitment, professional development, resource sharing and public advocacy for higher education.
The NHCUC a multi-purpose statewide consortium of public and private higher education institutions in New Hampshire,” said Thomas R. Horgan, president and CEO of the NHCUC. “We are indeed fortunate to have Dr. LeBlanc lead the NHCUC during these challenging times for higher education,” Horgan said. “Paul is widely respected by college and university presidents, business leaders and public policy leaders across New Hampshire, and his vision and leadership will be critical to moving us forward.”
Dr. LeBlanc was appointed President of Southern New Hampshire University on July 7, 2003. From 1996-2003, Dr. LeBlanc served as President of Marlboro College in Vermont. Previously, he served as Chair of the Humanities Department at Springfield College (MA) and was Vice President for New Technology at Houghton Mifflin Company. LeBlanc received a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, a Master’s of Arts degree from Boston College and a Bachelor of Arts from Framingham State College. He is an author and editor of books in the area of technology in teaching and has testified before the US Senate Judiciary Committee on questions of intellectual property and fair use. He has consulted with foundations on questions of the liberal arts and technology.
In addition to serving on the NHCUC Board of Directors and other college related committees, Dr. LeBlanc has been involved in a number of organizational and community based activities. Dr. LeBlanc serves on the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning Board of Directors and serves, or has served, on the boards of the New England Association for Schools and Colleges Commission on Higher Education, the Council of Independent Colleges, The Derryfield School, The NH Charitable Foundation, NH Junior Achievement and the Heritage United Way. He was appointed by Governor Lynch to the Governor’s Commission on Latino Affairs. He and his wife, Patricia Findlen, live in Manchester and have two daughters, Emma and Hannah.
Dr. LeBlanc will serve a two-year term as chair for the NHCUC.
