A scholarship is money that you don’t have to pay back. The more scholarships you get, the fewer student loans you’ll need. Apply for as many scholarships as you can to increase the probability of getting one.

  1. Start looking early.
  2. Make a list of scholarships and focus on best fits.
  3. Download the applications and/or call for information.
  4. Assemble your application form.
    • Complete the application form.
    • Enclose letters of recommendation.
    • Inlcude your high school transcript.
    • Enclose your standardized test scores (SAT).
  5. Some scholarships might require proof of eligibility including tax returns.
  6. Make copies for your records.
  7. Apply early.
